Back To School Tips With Dollar General

Back to school looks a little different for just about everyone this year. Whether you’re sending the kids back to school in a classroom setting, or getting ready to homeschool – these back to school tips are perfect for keeping your home organized, functional and productive throughout the year. No matter your choice, Dollar General has all of the supplies parents and teachers need.

Staying home this school year may seem like an overwhelming task at first. However, if you have the right systems in place from the very beginning – you and your children will be just fine. The key here is to plan ahead. That brings me to tip number one.

Plan Ahead:
This tip is crucial and comes in handy for staying home AND sending your kids to school. You want to make sure you have all of the necessary tools to be successful.

That goes for you and your kids. Just like a traditional school supply list, you’ll want to make sure you have your own list of must-haves and that they’re all checked off your list by the time school starts. DG has made it easy with their school supply list. https://content.dollargeneral.com/for-the-home/school-supply-list/

Whatever you decide, Dollar General is here to provide all of your back to school essentials. From planners, to name brand notebooks, Crayons, Elmer’s glue and DG brands like Office Hub and DG Office – Dollar General is a one-stop shop for all your back to school needs.

Create A Budget:
There are so many must haves when it comes to back to school season. So many in fact, that it’s so easy to go over your budget – if you even have one. Use the DG App Shopping List feature or DG GO to stay on budget.

If you don’t, consider the costs of school supplies, school clothes, after-school activities and tutoring (if applicable), it all adds up – especially if you have more than one child.

So do yourself and your wallet a favor, by taking some time to plan how much you can and want to spend.

Dollar General is the perfect place to shop and save this back to school season. Dollar General is offering parents a $5 off $15 stationary digital coupon. Along with the opportunity to save even more on Saturday’s with the $5 off $25 digital coupon. Check out the digital coupons, here.

I highly recommend downloading the DG App, making keeping up with coupons, deals and savings opportunities easier. Download the app, here. To help with budgeting even more, you can check to see if your store has DGGO, a service where you checkout by yourself and calculate your total BEFORE checking out. See if your store has it, here.

Create A Designated Space:
When you start planning and once all of your shopping is done, you’ll need somewhere to store all of your supplies.

Create a designated homeschool space. This can be as simple as creating a small corner in your child’s room, decorating a wall, or even using an entire room in your house.

Create A Schedule:
Along with having a designated homeschool space, you want to make sure you’re abiding by some sort of schedule.

This is not a one-size-fits-all. Do what’s appropriate for your child, their age and their needs. Don’t forget about yourself!

Dollar General has so much to offer when it comes to lunches and snacks. We were able to grab a nice sized lunch bag, peanut butter and jelly, veggie chips and applesauce. I love how easy it is to snag quality, name brand items, as well as a mix of Clover Valley and Good & Smart items – to create the perfect lunch on the go for the kids.

You don’t want to bombard yourself or your children with too much at one time. So be sure to take breaks, get some fresh air outside and relax when you need to. After all, traditional schooling provides ample time for kids to play and exercise – so you want to make sure you’re doing the same.

Provide blocks for each subject, including outside time, nap time (if applicable) and lunch.
That way, you can easily decipher when school is in session, versus when it’s not.
If you’re a teacher headed back to school this year, you can get 20% off with a teacher’s discount. Just show your badge at checkout to save on your entire purchase.

Stay Neat, Tidy and Clean:
You will thank me later for this. Because you’re staying home, overlooking and helping with schoolwork, crafting, watching the kids as they come into and go outside of the house to play, fixing lunches and snacks, etc. – you still want to make sure you’re cleaning up after yourself as you go.

It’s also a great practice to stay clean and sanitized for the safety of others when stepping outside of the house. With social distancing and sanitizing practices being enforced all over, you’ll want to make sure you’re providing the same cleanliness for yourself and your kids at home.
This way, by the end of the school day, you won’t have a pile of housework to complete before dinner and bedtime.

Dollar General is creating a safe shopping environment with sneeze guards in all stores, social distancing and some stores even have the option of DG pickup.

All in all, you want to make sure you give yourself the proper time to plan ahead, gather all of the supplies you need, create a sustainable budget, maintain a productive schedule and stay tidy!

These tips will ensure maximum productivity for staying home this back to school season. Don’t forget to check out all of the incredible ways you can save with Dollar General this year.
