If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know my family and I love to move around. I’m originally from Atlanta, GA, spent a few years away in New Orleans, moved back to Atlanta and now – my family and I have discovered coastal, beach living in Mississippi. Who knew there were so many beautiful things to see and fun activities in Coastal Mississippi? It’s truly a hidden gem.
I’ve collaborated with the sweetest people from Coastal Mississippi and together, we’ll be bringing you the latest in family fun around The Coast. Most people I’ve run into like to call it ‘The Secret Coast,’ because most people wouldn’t even know it’s here.
Coastal Mississippi is conveniently located between Louisiana (an hour away from New Orleans) and Alabama, the coast features 62 miles of scenic shores, casinos, water-front hotels, restaurants, shopping and tons of family-friendly activities. So I am super excited to bring you the latest and greatest happenings for the entire family. Coastal Mississippi makes the perfect road trip if you’re in the Southern region of the U.S., or if you’re just passing through Mississippi.
After about an hour, we were finished with the shrimping tour and headed next door to the Hard Rock Hotel, where we were in for a delicious surprise over at The Sugar Factory. The Sugar Factory is located on the second floor, just around the casino.
Upon entering, you can expect some breath-taking decor, beautiful artwork and an overall fun atmosphere. I’ve never been to the Sugar Factory before and I have to admit, they EXCEEDED my expectations. Everything was top notch, just like you see on the advertisements – from the decor, the food, the drinks and the service we were provided.
The drinks were gigantic and definitely enough to share between two adults. With a huge drink, you better expect a huge plate! We ordered before seeing any plates come out of the kitchen and boy oh boy – let’s just say, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs! Every entree is stacked and filled from end to end, so be sure to come ready to eat! Not to mention, the food was phenomenal!
They put together this sampler for us. In the top corner, there’s some fluffy, beer-battered fish, gulf shrimp and lightly fried calamari. Can you say yum?! One thing I love about living on the coast is the endless supply of fresh seafood. For years, I never really favored shrimp until getting a taste of it straight out of the Gulf.
Talk about our eyes being bigger than our stomachs! Creamy shrimp Alfredo, a double-stacked veggie burger and fish tacos with loads of fries – were just a few of the options that are on the menu of over 40 pages! You can choose from waffles, crepes, burgers, pastas, salads stacked to the ceiling and more!
Plus, there’s a plethora of drink options available in this 64-ounce goblet! The presentation blew me away!
And that’s not all…
We ordered dessert. From ice cream sandwiches, fondue, Chocolate Gold, regular milkshakes, insane milkshakes and ice cream sundaes that serve 12 people, it was pretty hard to make a decision.
The kids went with the ‘insane milkshakes’ that fit their personalities to the tee and we went the sundae. When you’re in a gigantic candy factory, you can’t leave without the sundae!
When you order a sundae from The Sugar Factory, you don’t just get ice cream and a few toppings. You get a surprise dance to your table, 24 scoops of ice cream covered in hot fudge, caramel, strawberry sauce, sliced bananas, toasted marshmallows, Reese’s Pieces, chocolate chip cookies, crushed waffle cones, Gummi Bears, white chocolate shavings, toasted walnuts, whipped cream, giant lollipops and sparklers on top! We even found a cupcake and a donut as we dug around.
From the whimsical ambiance, to the detailed menu and the friendly staff to help you along the way – The Sugar Factory was a true treat for all of us. The Sugar Factory is located in Biloxi, MS on the second floor of the Hard Rock Hotel and is open 24 hours. Visit Coastal Mississippi for more fun ideas while visiting.
