Fall At Crystal Bridges Is The Perfect Holiday Getaway For The Entire Family

The holidays are always a perfect time to get the family together and go an adventure! Whether you’re traveling as tradition, or wanting to switch things up – Crystal Bridges is the perfect place for the entire family to enjoy art and nature.

Living near the coast for the past three years hasn’t allowed me to fully experience Fall with all of it’s glory. I enjoy the crunchy, colorful leaves, the drastic drop in temperature and the overall feel I get when it’s truly Fall. So being able to travel a few hours away and experience the weather was truly heartwarming for me. If you’re located near the coast, you’ll understand!

This is just ONE of many things we were able to experience during our visit to Bentonville, Arkansas. Earlier this Summer, we were elated to witness the magic at Summer At Crystal Bridges, so it was a no-brainer to pack our bags and head to the museum to see what was in store for us for the Fall.

The Crystal Bridges Museum is the newest American art museum to open in more than a generation. The museum features four miles of walking and biking trails that surrounds the 120-acre grounds with a beautiful Ozark landscape. The great thing about all of this, is that Crystal Bridges has a unique and interactive way of incorporating art exhibitions within this landscape. It’s a truly magical experience to walk through the forest and enjoy these amazing sculptures and exhibits!

The “North Forest Lights” is a nighttime, multimedia experience in the middle of the museum’s North Forest unlike anything Crystal Bridges has ever done before. Not only do you get to view the art, but the Montreal-based multimedia and entertainment studio Moment Factory, gives you an opportunity to FEEL the art. The five installations bring the soul and rhythm of the forest to life with light, sound and sensory effects for a captivating and unforgettable adventure!

Upon entering the forest, we went straight for the delicious food – grilled cheese, butternut squash soup and hot chocolate was just a few of the scrumptious treats on the menu! Not to mention, the hot cocoa was a necessity for walking through the forest and the ambiance was everything you could imagine for Fall while enjoying our dinner.

After an hour or so, we had experienced all five of the whimsical exhibits and left the North Forest with feelings of being on cloud nine. From The Whispering Tree that invites you to engage in private dialogue and responds to you with lights, to The Forest Orchestra – this experience is truly one of a lifetime!

Before heading back home, we had a chance to view Yayoi’s Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room, which is now on permanent display at the Crystal Bridges Museum. As if we weren’t already feeling like we were still dreaming, Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room – My Heart is Dancing into the Universe is an enclosed room filled with mirrors and dotted lanterns that change colors; giving you the feeling of no ending and no beginning.

The entire visit will have you feeling like you’re in a dream. Which in my opinion, is how we should all feel around this time of year. So while you’re making your list and checking it twice, take note on this magical experience and get your family out there to experience it for yourself!

The Crystal Bridges Museum is free for all ages and the North Forest Lights will be on exhibition until February, so start planning now. Feel free to check out our Summer visit and more images of the museum and art itself, here
